ITALY.

i . RAID ON FIUME. DEPLORED BY THE GOVERNMENT. By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. Received Sept. 16, 12.30 a.m. Rome, Sept. 14. In the Chamber, Signor Nitti stated that the latest news regarding the situation created at Flume by the coup de main was serious, because 2300 soldiers entered the town without right. He was determined to act in order to avoid grave conflicts, and he deplored what had happened because, for the first time, sedition had entered the Italians. Signor Nitti added that D'Annunzio's grenadiers started during the night time and proceeded in forty motor cars to Fiume, when a battalion awaited them ton the armistice line. The .commander of the Bth Array Corps sent a commander to the detachments to which the raiders belonged, with the object of persuading the misguideds to return, but D'Annunzio announced his intention to instal himself at the head of the army in command at Fiume.—Reuter.
