WEATHER IN THE SOUTH.
SNOW AT INVERCARGILL. By Telegraph,—Press Association. Invercargill, Sept. 2. Invercargill was under a white mantle this morning, and snow was still falling at 11.30 intermittently. Reports from the country show that the fall was light: At Kingston four inches are reported, but it is now clearing, though bitterly cold.
SNOW INTERRUPTS POWER LINES. Cbristchurch, Sept. 2. The snowfall interrupted both Lake Cbleridge transmission lines to the city and did a considerable amount of minor damage to the telephone and telegraph lines.
