REPATRIATION COMMITTEE.
A meeting of the New Plymouth Repatriation Committee was held on Monday night, there being present: Liout.Colonel C. H. Weston (in the chair), Messrs H. R. Cattley, T. Furlong, W. J. Chaney, F. W. Okey, B. Whittle, R. J. Clarke, J. R. Rowlands, C. Carter, and A. S. Allen (secretary). The secretary reported that there were seven men on the unemployed register. An application for a loan of £3OO for the purpose of purchasing dairy eows was recommended for approval; another for £SO for farm implements was granted; and one for £2OO for stock was refused unless better terms with the lessor of the land could be made by the applicant. Two applications for business loans (one for £3OO and the other for £280) were recommended for approval.
Three loans of £SO each for furniture were granted, One applicant, unable to follow hi* pre-war occupation, was granted a sustenance allowfhice wMiilst training in motor engineering tit the Technical College, New Plymouth.
