A very enjoyable time was spent in the Clifton Hail last evening, the occasion being the Clifton Football Club's fortnightly dance. There was a very large attendance, the floor was in good order, and everything went off well. The music was supplied by Mr. J. Taylor, and Messrs S. D. George and F. Proctor were M'sC.

The Waitara Choral Society arc still having good practices. All the members are keen, and the society intends to gice a concert on September IS, which should provide a musical treat.

The Waitara Repatriation Board met last night, when Messrs Morgan, Richardson, Huse, Gribbon, Taylor, and Arms were present. Applications from five returned soldiers for assistance were considered. Four were recommended tD the Repatriation Board as deserving eases, and one was sent on to the Repatriation Board to be dealt with, as the committee did not think it came within thftir woviws.
