WELLINGTON SESSIONS. THE LASII FOR SEXUAL OFFENDERS. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, August 7. Mr. Justice Stringer, at. the Supremo Court to-day, sentenced Roy Albert DeInney, a youiitr mnn, to fifteen years' imprisonment for criminal assault on a little girl at Petone. Hoi also ordered that accused should receive ten lashes. His Honor said that he would order flogging in all future cases (If gross outrages agair.st young children. Wellington, Last Night.
At the Supreme Court, Harold Albert Peart, charged with misappropriating moneys belonging to his employers, was acquitted. DUNEDIN SESSIONS. Dunedin, Last Night. At tho Supreme Court two youths, Walter George Perry and Win. Andrew Boycc Pleger, were acquitted on a charge of indecently assaulting a girl nearly lti years of age, but a point of law remains to be settled. Charles James Arnold was acquitted on a charge of stealing £l5O from Albert Honry Hodge. May Faithful was ordered to come up for sentence when called on for stealing an oppossum rug, and her associate, Rolt Henry Pobar, was ordered to be detained for reformative treatment for not more than five ycar.-f. Victor Itett, who had been convicted of indecent assault on a little girl, came up for sentence. In this case the jury recommended flogging, but "the judge decided against such a course. The girl had not suffered any physical injury, though the case was a bad one. The maximum penalty of seven years' hard labor was inflicted.
