CHILDREN'S JOY RIDE.

MOTOR TRIP TO INGLEWOOD. The children who were disappointed at not being able to mako tho motor-car trip with the others who were taken fov the outing on Peace Day, owing to the insufficient number of cars, had the pleasure made up to them yoßtarday. Mr. R, Day, who supervised the arrangements on the first occasion, undertook the responsibility of yesterday's trip (on behalf of the sub-committee), and ha met with a very generous response on the part qf the mtoor-car owners, many of whom gave their cars on both occasions, and the sub-committee desire to thank them for their generosity. Some difficulty was experienced in getting the requisite number of cars, owing to many being in use in connection with yesterday's football fixtures and the Hunt Club meeting, but some BO cars were placed at the Committee's disposal, and these accommodated practically the whole of the 650 children who came forward for tho ride. On the journey in from Inglewooi the travellers were given a cordial greeting by the children of the Egmont Village Schoul, who, with their teachers, were assembled on the roadside, and cheered the children as they passed in the cars. The journey was completed by about 3.15 without any hitch, save a 'couple of punctures, and the mechanics who accompanied the procession very quickly satisfied those troubles.

The enjoyment of the children was unbounded, and those responsible for tho undertaking were amply repaid for any trouble they had been to, by seeing the manner in which the children appreciated the outing provided. Too much praisa cannot be bestowed on Mr. Day for tho indefatigable way in which he attended to the details of the trip, the success of which Is largely due to his organising ability and whole-lwrted effertg,
