ENTERTAINMENTS.

EVERYBODY'S. MADGE KENNEDY AND TOM MOORE IN "THE FAIR PRETENDER."

Madge Kenedy's latest picture, "The Fair Pretender," bids fair to eclipse all her previous efforts, and in the support of Tom Moore she has a leading man who is hard to beat. Madge, as the little stenographer who poses as a widow, falls in love with the alleged successful author, also a poseur, and the humorous situations with which the play abounds cause laughter long 'and loud. When the fictitious and supposed dead husband enters the scene he is very much alive, and there is every possibility of the "bluff being called." Madge rises to the occasion, and her treatment of the climax gains admiration for her undoubted ability to get the most from any scene. The plot is pleasing and nqvel, and flashes of bright comedy abound throughout. Another episode of "The House of Hate" will lie shown with the programme to-night and to-morrow at Kverybody's. THE EMPIRE. MARY PICICFORD AS "STELLA MARIS." The beautiful Artcraft super-feature, "Stella Maris," with Mary Pickford in the lead, will be screened at the Empire Theatre this Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights, and also at special matinee performances on Thursday at 3.30 p.m. and Saturday at 2 p.m. The Thursday matinee has been specially arranged to allow school children to view this inflinitely beautiful story, and on this occasion school children will be admitted for threepence. At the Saturday matinee children will be charged the usual rates (od). The prices of admission to the evening sessions will be: Dress circle and stalls 2s (plus tax l ) and front stalls Is (plus tax). Intending patrons can now reserve their seats at Collier's without any extra charge. The fame of "Stella Maris" is so well known locally that there is no need to dwell on the beauty of the story or tlie excellence of the production. It is one of the finest pictures ever seen in the Dominion, and will draw tremendous crowds in New Plymouth, as it has done in all the other towns where it has been screened. THE PEOPLE'S. ,■ LA.SX NIGHT OF MACK SENNETT 'AND CHARLES RAYThe big double bill completing its season at the People's to-night is one of the strongest offered for some time. Charles Ray, the screen's wonder boy, is featured in a fine spy play, "The Ciaws of the Hun," while a sniggering Mack Sennett comedy, "The Summer Girls," latest Gazette, Pictqgraph, and "The Railroad Raiders" complete the bill. OLGA PETROVA TO-MORROW. To-morrowfs taew bill presents the queen of emotion, Madame Olga Pctrova in "The Life Mask." There is no question that Madame Petrova, under her own management, has presented the public with greatly improved pictures, while she herself has succeeded in infusing new force and vim into her performances In "The Life Mask" she will please even those who have found fault with her. Her undoubted beauty and ability arc shown to' greater advantage, and iter dressing is even more magnificent than usual.
