Notwithstanding the presence of the immense crowd in tlie Park on the peace celebrations day, there was no damage to the Board's property. The planting of trees in Liurdet Street in connection witJi the peace celebrations had been carried out by the Board's staff. Well-grown puriris were planted, at both ends of the scolion' of tlie street, with eight of- the best varieties of Japanese flowering cherries, 011 each side of the street, "Street planting,'' said the curator, '"with beautiful an'l suitable trees, and groups of trees growing on spare spaces, add greatly to the general health, protection, beautification and value of towns." In regard to the general work of planting for the season, some delay had ariseu on account of the lack of assistance, and many oi\ the trees had become somewhat overgrown and ill-shapen. The receipts for the month from the sale of firewood amounted to £3. The chairman reported that property owners along Fillis Street had consented to the erection of a cobblestone wall along the Park frontage to the street, agreeing to the Board taking a small strip of roadway for the purpose. Steps will be taken to have the wall erected at as early a date as possible.
