INTERESTING DETAILS. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, July 30. A stateinent has been published showing the different classes of people who pay Income tax, in which one or two items occur which have excited much curiosity. Under the heading- "Salaried Persons" two are returned in the section £7OOO to £IO,OOO per annum. Between them they receive £15,560. In the professional section one man is returned with an income of £17,590, on Which he, pays £6541 tax. It is conjectured that he mus.t be either a lawyer or a doctor. there is also bne non-resident trader whose income from New Zealand is £37,313, the tax on it being £13,923 It is surprising to find that the theatrical and other entertainments, 35 in number, only show an income of £4393 and pay £153 in taxes.
