NEW PLYMOUTH MAGISTRACY.

Mr. J. W. Poynton, S.M., who lias been stationed at New Plymouth for several weeks past during the illness of Mr. A. Crooke, S.M., leaves for Auckland by boat to-morrow night. Mr. S. E. McCarthy, S.M., is "expected to arrive from Christchurch on Monday or Tuesday next to take up the magisterial duties in this district during the continued absence on leave of Mr. Crookc. Mr. Poynton is chairman of the Teachers' Appeal Board, which commences its sittings in Auckland on July 10. There are about 140 appeals to he dealt with in various parts of New Zealand, and from Auckland the court proceeds to Napier, Wanganui, New Plymouth, Nelson, Wellington, Christchureh, Dunedin and Invercargill. The court will sit at Wanganui 011 July 22 to hear two appeals, and at New Plymouth 011 July 24 to deal with nine cases. The tour is expected to finish about the middle of August.
