The iStar~reported that Mr. George Barnes, M.P., will be Ambassador to Berlin, in recognition of the fact that he has been the qhief actor in securing the international Labor charter in the Peace Treaty. FOOD SUPPLIES FROM AMERICA. New York, July 29. The American relief administration announced that the United States shipped to Europe between December, 1918, and May, 1919, a total of 3,486,230 tons of food, valued at 635,175,000 dollars. COMMONWEALTH POLITICS. Melbourne, July 3. In the House of Representatives Mr. Higgs moved a motion of want of confidence in the Government, complaining that insufficient information had been given to the House concerning the peace terms. The motion was listlessly debated. Mr Groom introduced a Bill extending the operations in connection with the dairy produce, sugar, flai; and wheat control regulations to periods beyond the expiration of the War Precautions Act. MORE ECONOMY DESIRED. Melbourne, July 3. The Nationalist Party has agreed to ii plank in their platform calling a parliamentary convention in the Commonwealth as early as possible to consider a scheme for the abolition of friction and overlapping and ensuring more economical government.
