SUPREME COURT.
A BURGLAR SENTENCED.
Bjr Telegraph.—Press Association. Dunedin, Juno 10. Walter James Fobert Keen,* who hod pleaded guilty in the lower court to having burglariously entered the postBlaster's residence at Milton and the post office savings bank and stealing £520, was brought up for sentence in the Supreme Court this morning. Ho also pleaded guilty to forcing a teiegraai and stealing a colt at Makarora.
Mr. Justice Sim said it would <be better in prisoner's own interests that he be deprived of his liberty for a time in order that he might be cured of his fondness for horse racing. He would be ordered to be detained for reformative purposes for a period of not more than three years.
DAMAGES FOR INFERIOR SEEDS. Christchurch, June 10. Mr. Justice Herdtoan delivered judgment iu the Supreme Court this morning in an action heard on May 30 and brought iby William Roberts, a chicory grower, against Buxton, Ltd-, Christchurch, seed merchants, and Montgomery & Co., Christchurch, merchants, who were joined as a third party. Plaintiff, whose ease was that the chicory seed supplied by defendants was of inferior quality, was awarded damages for £1703 10s lid, with costs.
BLENHEIM SESSIONS.
Blenheim, Last Night. At the Supreme Court to-day, Wm, Pacey, on a charge of alleged false pretences by issuing a valueless cheque at Haveloclc, was found not guilty.
NAPIER SESSIONS.
Napier, Last Night. At the Supreme Court James Junk was found not guilty of indecent assault on a boy. Mohi Hirani, a Maori returned soldier, was found not guilty of making a false declaration to the Hastings Registrar of Marriages.
