The Ruapchu sailed for New Zealand With 530 troops and 180 women on board. ,
There were remarkable scenes on Saturday when the New Zealanders from the Buapehu welcomed the British troops who arrived on board the Katoomba from Egypt. The British troops were ordered to the smallpox camp near Plymouth. The New Zealanders' vigorously upheld the Britishers' protest on the grounds that civilians who had been vaccinated were allowed to go home. The authorities finally gave way. There were six cases of smallpox among the troops and civilians, developed in the Mediterranean, in consequence of which all the troops «nd civilians were vaccinated.—Aua.-N.Z. Cable'Aewc.
