GERMANY.
LTHE PRESENT GOVERNMENT.
WEAKENING EVERY HOUR.
By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. Received June 9, 8.5 p.m. London, June 8.
The Daily Chronicle's Berlin correspondent states that owing to domestic quarrels the Scheidemann Government is weakening every hour. It is significant that the Majority and Independent Socialists supported the communists of Berlin (the Workers' Council) in protesting against Leiven's execution. The Majority Socialists meet at Weimar on Tuesday. It is believed they are anxious to rid themselves of the bourgeoisie element, which is behind the Government, and the military influence, which is increasingly apparent in the administration. Consequently the Majority Socialists are likely to disown the Government. The indications are that should the Government be overthrown the next administration will be a dictatorship representing the proletariat, and ultimately sovietism on the one hand or the reactionary elements of the army on the other hand. —Aus. NEGOTIATIONS WITH BOLSHEVIKS.
Berne, May 29.
Negotiations between the German and ■Russian Bolsheviks are in full swing. They are being conducted through the Well-known Socialist Parvus, a resident of Switzerland, who is intimately connected with Scheidemann, Count Bantzau and Trotsky. A plan to organise the Bolsheviks in most European countries, including Turkey and the Balkans, is being elaborated,' with a view to possible eventualities arising from Germany's not sitting the treaty. Parvus is seeking the complete abandonment of terrorism as the basis of a Russo-German agreement.—Aus. N.ZCable Assoc.
