R.S.A. AND Y.M.C.A, By Telegraph.—Press Association. Timaru, June 7. A deputation from tlie Y.M.C.A. waited on the R.S.A. to remove misapprehensions regarding'tho clash of building schemes, as it was recognised that the public would not furnish funds for two buildings at the same time. The R.S.A. determined not to accept the Y.M.C.A. offer to share the building, and as.' it was the first in the field with the scheme now complains that the Y.M.C.A., by announcing a scheme and buying a site, has interfered with the raising of funds. A frank and friendly discussion took place, Y.M.C.A. representatives. l assuring the R.S.A. of their goodwill and desire to assist rather than obstruct or clash with the R.S.A.
ADVANCE IN PAY REJECTED. Auckland, June 1. The Tramway Officers' Union rejected the advance in pay bffered by the Tramway Company, especially as it did not include about twenty members of the union.
MARLBOROUGH'S LITTLE LIST. Blenheim, June 7. At a meeting of the Marlborough Chamber of Commerce the following resolution was carried unanimously:— That it being the opinion of the chamber that the South Itland Main Trunk railway is of paramount national importance it should be completed before any other railway line in the Dominion; that the claims of Picton as a naval base for the Dominion be urged upon the Government; that the Government be requested to proceed at once with the promised geological survey of Marlborough; that the hydro-electric scheme outlined by Mr Parry be carried into effect at the earliest opportunity.
