A description has been given by the Society of Arms of a new internal combustion engine, invented by W. Stell and kept secret during tho war. The contrivance utilises. l steam from ft waterjacket and exhaust to help to drive the (•name. The steam and combustion alternately propel a piston and the steam pressure starts tho engine, the efficiency of which is raised from 30 per cent, to 42 per cent. The engine in its present form is; too heavy for motor cars and aeroplanes, but its utility for heavier work has been demonstrated.
