HEAVY PENALTY FOR BREACHES.

Wellington, May 28. , The Minister of Agriculture hopes soon to be in d position to announce the steps that are being taken in New Zealand under the anti-trust legislation of last session. Under the Act the Minister is given absolute power to prevent any firm whatsoever from operating in the country, and his decision is not subject to challenge on any ground at all. No firm may carry on the meat export business under a penalty of £4OO a day unless licensed by the Minister. Up to the present only one application has. 1 been refused, but most careful inquiries are being made in various quarters.
