A meeting of those interested in the formation of a trotting club in New Plymouth was held at the Soldiers' Club last night. There was a good attendance, Mr. A. W. Webster presiding. The success of the Waimate Plains Club was referred to, and it was also pointed out that on account of the short notice at which the meeting had" been called several enthusiasts in the district were unable to attend, but they had indicated their willingness to support the proposal. After some discussion it was resolved to form a"club, to be known as the Taranaki Trotting Club. The following provisional committee was appointed to gather the necessary data and report to a future meeting: Messrs A. W. Webster, H. Brookmau, IW. C. Weston,- E. Whittle, T. Richards, H G. Knight, W. Honeyfield, M.-Jones, J.'McLeod, C." Fairbrother, 13. Wooldridge and S. G. Smith, M.P.

The subscription was fixed at £1 la per annum. It was decided that the next general meeting be held on Monday, 19th inst. -Mr. L. de C. Morgan was appointed secretary pro tem. A suggestion was made for consideration by the committee, that in the event of there being delay in getting a permit for a meeting, the Jockey Club should be approached with a -view to including some trotting events, on the programme for their next meeting. t A vote of thanks to Messrs Webster and Weston for convening ±he meeting terminated the proceedings.
