THE PARIS MURDERS.
INTERCEPTED CORRESPONDENCE.
Paris, April 28. The police intercepted a letter addressed to Landru, who murdered about a dozen women, from Mile. Desclmmps, whom Landru met in the tube half an hour before he was arrested, otherwise she would undoubtedly have been another of his victims. Desehampa was a pretty girl of twenty years, with beautiful eyes. She told the police that she immediately felt she could trust the handsome black-bearded gentleman with extraordinarily fascinating eyes, amiable maimers, and sweet voice, who offered her a seat. She could not resist when asked to alight at the next station, Landru adding, "I would give all my life for a minute's walk with you alone." They walked together in the underground corridors for a quarter of an hour. Landru professed love, and told her he had a large fortune, and said: "Next week you must come in my motor car to my lovely villa in the country."— Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
