FURTHER DISTURBANCES.
SEVERAL CASUALTIES. v 7
Received April 24, 9.50 p.m. London, April 19. Official; The latest report from., the Punjab states that, two British officers were injured, a soldier killed, and the Treasury attacked at Kasu. At Ainritsar on April 13 the mob defied a proclamatipn forbidding meetings. Firing ensued, daushig two hundred casualties. Disorderly elements in rural areas are damaging Government property and looting trains, At Delhi, when the shops reopened, the Mohammedan mob interfered. The police were obliged to fire, scattering the mob. Four policemen were injured. The city afterwards was quiet, being patlolled by troops. Oh the northwest frontier on April 13 an attempt was made to close the shops in Peshawar. A mass meeting was held, Hindus participating, at which a boycott of British g>ods was urged. No disturbances oflourred.
Calcutta is normal. The moderates issued, a manifesto condemning passive resistance and. deploring the recent events.
Bombay is" quiet, but there is suppressed excitement among the Mohammedans. A meeting of the Illema will be held.on April 25.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Aim.
