ELTHAM.

(From Our Own Correspondent.) Eltham, April 23. The ball held in the Town Hall last Wednesday proved a most enjoyable affair. It was organised on behalf of the Bowling Club, and, although the attendance was hardly up to expectations, those present were given the time of their lives. Excellent music was provided by Kirk's Orchestra, while the duties of M's C. were in the capable hands of Messrs H. H. Judd, W. D. Ross, and A. R. Cronin. An excellent supper was provided. It was hoped that the result of the ball would permit of several improvements being effected, but, owing to the number of similar functions held lately, dancers here are evidently wanting a spell. Eltham Oddfellows still enjoy a marked run of prosperity. During the past year the membership has greatly increased and, as a result, the officers contensplate making several additions to ttie hall. When the writer urged the enlargement of the building there wer» some who believed it was quite large owugfc, but an increased floor space was secured. Now it is to be further increased, and probably a billiard table will be installed to keep the interest going during the long winter night*.
