INGLEWOOD.
(From Our Travelling Reporter.) Inglewood, April 23. Concerning the mayoralty, Cr. Buckley is senior by length of service, and also possesses an intimate knowledge of the council's working, and has been nominated by the retiring mayor (Mr. George Young). Cr. J. Sutherland, like his opponent, ia a young man with a progressive spirit, and it is unfortunate that the council must lose the service of one of the candidates. The retiring mayor is supporting Cr. Buckley because his nominee thoroughly understands the administrative policy he (Mr. Young) has been endeavoring to carry out. Whatever the result, Inglewood burgesses are fortunate in having men of business ability such as these candidates possess ready to take on the duties. Those nominating Cr. Bucklev were the mayor, Messrs W. E. Percivai and J. W. Winfield (ex-mayors), T. E. Hamerton, A. B. Gamlin, and E. A. Kennedy. Cr. Sutherland's nominators wero Messrs I. M. Kidd and A. Lile. In the ten nominees for couneillorships the burgesses have the opportunity of forming a good council. Anzae Day (Friday) will be observed here as a close holiday, with memorial services in the Town Hall in the evening, the ministers of the various churches officiating. A notice to this effect appears on the first page. This morning the mayor, Mr. G. Young, was nominated to represent the boroughs of Inglewood and Waitara on the New Plymouth Hospital Board.
