TEACHERS' SALARIES.

THE MINISTER'S PLAtfS. (From Our Own Correspondent). Wellington, April 8. The Minister for Education has indicated in several recent statements that the salaries of teachers are to he much improved in the future, presumably after Parliament has sanctioned his recommendations. His scheme includes the payment of a minimum salary to teachers who have served for a certain number of years, the minimum being in excess of the present rates. It is stated in well-informed teaching circles that the teachers are to be brought up to the level of other branches of the public service. Just what this would mean would depend, of course, upon the relative classifications. The Minister is not prepared yet to make a definite statement of his intentions.
