OHURA AND MATIERE.
MINISTERIAL VISIT. Taumarunui, April 10. After leaving Whangamomona the Ministerial party proceeded via Tangarakau Gorge to Oliura, when the deputations were introduced by Mr. W. T. Jennings, M.P. Mr. Romayne, chairman of the county, dealt with roads and metal quarries. Messrs. D. Vere, Hunt, Roach, and Chas Ryan dealt with more fapid construction of railway works from Okahukura to Oliura, and M : r. Meredith with telephone matters. The Minister replied in the same manner as to previous deputations. At Maticre, railway, road, postal and school matters were represented by | Messrs. Pleasance, Sowry, Taylor and J. Ryan. The Minister's replies received great applause and Matiere scored handsomely. Mr. Jennings brought up the advisability of opening 30,000 acres of Crown lands north of Ongarue for returned soldiers, and the Hon. D. H. Uuthrie telegraphed for a report. The Minister of Lands went on to Taumaranui and Mr. Jennings proceeded to Ongarue to present a cheque of over Jhree figures, subscribed by friends, to Private Price, who returned 'recently minus one arm and one leg.
