INGLEWOOD.

(From Our Travelling Reporter.) | Inglewood, April 1. On Friday evening the settlers of Lincoln Road and others assembled at the schoolhouse to farewell Mr. and Mrs. J. Harrison, who are leaving shortly for Waihi, Waitara. Mr. G. Henwood occupied the chair, and called upon Mr. J. Sutherland to make the .presentations. In doing so the latter mentioned that the settlers on the road and friends regretted that they were losing a family who had made themselves deservedly popular during their stay in the district. It was felt that some recognition was due to their guests for the active manner in which they had followed up any patriotic or other cause organised in the dislrict. A hearty welcome awaited the family whenever they cared to revisit the' district. As souvenirs of their stay here he had pleasure in presenting Mrs. Harrison with a set of Doulton ware, Mr. Harrison with a safety razor outfit, and also a small gift to mr. three daughters. In replying, Mr. Harrison thanked the farmers and other subscribers for their kindly wishes and generous gifts. Whatever the family had done had been a pleasure, and it was pleasing to know that they had the good wishes of all for the future. He heartily reciprocated Mr. statements, and trusted that if any of his friends ever travelled Waihiwards they would look him up, assuring tliem of a | hearty welcome. Enjoyable vocal items were contributed by Messrs Darlow and Metcalf. In the dances the best of music was supplied by Mr. J. Sutherland, Misses Henwood and Dryden. The social was continued till a. late hour, all present having spent a most enjoyable evening. Mr. W. Harris, Waihi, takes up Mr. Harrison's farm. Considerable interest is being aroused in the addresses of the Efficiency Board delegates at the Town Hall on Thursday evening. The Mayor (Mr. Young) will preside over what is expected to prove a crowded house.
