ELTHAM.
(From Our Own 'Correspondent.) Eltham, April 1. This morning I had a short conversation with Mr. C. A. Wilkinson, M.l'., concerning the movements of the Parliamentary Industries Committee, and he slated that the party will sit at Hawera on Friday, April 11, and the next day, Saturday, visit Manaia and Eltham, going on to New Plymouth that evening and holding a session there on Monday and Tuesday, leaving for Auckland on Tuesday night. "The visitors will he the guests of Mr. Wilkinson at the. Mountain House for luncheon, and at Eltham i for afternoon tea, whilst the Borough ! Council are understood to have extended an invitation to tea prior to leaving for New Plymouth. Evidence will only be taken at Hawera and New Plymouth, but the claims for consideration will be comprehensive. Very heavy frosts have been experienced here during the last few days, and that means finis to gardening for the year. However, amateur gardeners have had a fairly good innings, but the frosts are somewhat early compared with past seasons. Included in the list of soldiers returning by the Kaikonra from Egypt I notice the following Eltham and district men: L. W. Luxton, J. H. Eeardon, and C. C. Stanners.
