EPIDEMIC WORKERS.
GRATITUDE OR GOVERNMENT. His Worship the Mayor of New Plymouth (Mr C. H. Burgess) has received from the Minister at Internal Affairs (the Hon. G- W. Russell) the following circular letter of thinks for the services i—idersd in connection with the campaign against tSje influenza epidemic:— ''l desire t.o express the thanks of the Government to yourself, the governing Mfidies, and the people of your city, town, and diitr'J; for the assistance rendered during the recent world-wide epidemic. "The Government recognises that the wlf-sn"rifice and heroism of the people — in co-operation with the hospital atithorities. the Army Medical Service the medical profession, the nurses, the voluntary workers, and the Public Health Department, combated the disease with vijtor and success, the being that though severe, the visitation was of short duration It therefore tenders its sincere thank s to .ill who assisted and matefully recognises the unflinching courage and devotion displayed by all classes during the sad davs through which the Dominion, in common with other countries, parsed during the passage of the epidemic over our country. The Government also thankfully recognises the generositv of those who assisted Tvith voluntary contributions ot monev. and goods, and in other ways, for the lienpfi'.' of the relief funds neeeotitated bv the epidemic" A copy of the spme circular has also !
