ARBITRATION COURT.
INCREASED WAGES DEMANDED. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Christohureh, March 24Six unions applied at the Arbitration Court to-day for inch-eased wages, and bonuses on' account of the increased cost of living. In the case of the Tinsmiths' Union, the court was asked to amend the agreement made by the Conciliation Council in order that the claims should be increased in accordance with tlm Wellington award. The em-clovers' representative contended that the cost of liviusr was higher in Wellington than in Ohristchnroh, and that the court should consider that circumstance in fixing the rates >Mr Justice Stringer: The court might hive to abandon the Wellington basis of the increased cost of living and fix different standnrds in different places. The Government Statistician gives evidence this afternoon.
