COTTON OPERATIVES' DEMANDS.
A COMPROMISE SUGGESTED. Received. .March 21, 10.45 p.m. London, March 20 A conference of the spinning and manufacturing sections of the cotton trade employers informed the operatives that they could not reduce the hours from 53'/.. weekly to 4i and pay tho existing wages. They suggest 4I)V 3 hours, and they point out the importance of Japanese and Indian competition, and that America's competition will also he severe. The conference adjourned till April 10.—Aus-N.Z.
