PROTEST AGAINST EMBARGO. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Christchurch, Last Night. A large deputation of Canterbury potato growers waited on the Hon. W. D. S. Mac Donald to protest against the recent imposition of an embargo on the e.vport of potatoes. It was contended there should be » free market, or that the Government should buy the potatoes at a price equivalent to the Australian price, less shipping charges. The Minister pointed out that the object of the embargo was to prevent a sharp rise, as was the case last year, to eliminate keen Australian competition, and to reduce the oost of a staple article of food. The position would be fully gone into when the main crop was dug in two or three weeks time, and it might then be found possible to lift the embwgs,
