Play was resumed shortly after half-past 10, the not-out men of the previous day (Davis and Gilmer major) opening to Sinclair and O'Halloran. Sinclair took the first over, bowling against a slight breeze, and had hard luck with his first ball, which Davis skied to the on, the ball falling between Osborne and Saxton With a little more alertness in the field the wicket might have been accounted for Davis thereafter carried his overnight score of 17 to 40. when he was cautrht bv Inch off Sinclair.
