CHILDREN'S HOUSE.

TO RELIEVE MOTHERS OP NURSING. By Telegraph..—Press Association. Invercargill, March 3. A deputation of men and women which waited to-day on the Hon. .T. A. Hanan, Minister for Education, asked for financial aid for a children's house for the care of children for two to five years during the day to relieve mothers. Miss Birss said that, owing to the necessity of nursing smaller children, some boys and girls were going into the world only of third standard education. The best thing was to take care of the small children and give the older ones a chance. Mr. Hanan expressed his sympathy with the object of the deputation, and said he would confer with the Hon. G. G. Russell on the matter. Finally he said: You get the land, and I'll provide a third of the cost of building.
