IN BANKRUPTCY.
K G. G, WINKELMANN. A meeting of creditors in the bankrupt estate of N G. G. Winkelmann was held at the office of the Deputy Official Assignee (Mr J. S. S. Medley) on Tuesday afternoon. Bankrupt was represented by Mr R. C. Hughes, who stated that Winkelmann had hoped by this time to have been able to put some proposition before the creditors Winkelmann had also told him he had been advised by his solicitor in Auckland that the proceedings in bankruptcy were irregular, in other words that the order was made without jurisdiction because Winkelmann was, and still is, a soldier within the meaning of the Act, but was on leave without pay, and he therefore reserved the right, in coming before his creditors, to have the order annulled However, apart from that he was anxious to see his creditors, to give him any information they might require, and to place his prospects before them. Further reference was made to bankrupt's new iron melting process which had been patented and from which he hoped to be able to meet all his liabilities He regretted his creditors were increasing the costs upon him. After a somewhat lengthy discussion, in the course of which the bankrupt was examined by several solicitors representing creditors, it was resolved to further adjourn in order to give Winkelmann an opportunity to produce certain papers and details in connection with his affairs.
