LIFE-SAVING SOCIETY.
MEETING OF COMMITTEE. The monthly meeting of the general committee of the North Taranaki Head Centre of the Royal Life-Saving Society was held on Wednesday night. Mr S. G. Smith, M.P., presided, and there were present: Miss White (2) and Gardner, Messrs R. L. Mcllroy, N. A. Christiansen and P. A. Mathieson (secretary) The Waitara Surf-bathing Club wrote in respect to several matters relating to the conduct of the Tabor Shield Competition. Thursday, March 27th at 4.30 p.m. waß suggested as the date and time for the competition. After consideration it was thought that the time was somewhat late in the afternoon and the centre resolved to ask the Waitara Committee to endeavor to arrange the competition for March 20. The following officials were appointed: Judge, Mr P. A. Mathieson; timekeepers, Messrs J. Bennett and E. Whittle. Entries were fixed to close on March 13th. Entries were received from the New Plymouth Girls' High School (three teams) for the secondary schools' championship, also from the West End School (three teams) and Central (three teams) for the Hughes Cup It was decided to receive entries up to February 26. and that the competition be held a week later than arranged—namely from March 11 to 14. A subscription of £1 Is was received from Miss E. 0 Stanford. Accounts amounting to £ll lis were passed for payment.
