, MEMBER OF PARLIAMENT ARRESTED. Melbourne, Feb. 11. Gunner G. Yates, a member of the House of Representatives, has been arrested by tho military for acting as leader in a demonstration on board th« transport Somali at Adelaide, in which the men, it is alleged, threatened to seize the ship unless their demands were granted. THE PERTH TRAMWAYS. Perth, Feb. 11. The tramways earnings decreased .€22,000 owing to the recent strike. DELAY TO SHIPPING. Sydney, Feb. 11. Eight inter-State steamers are idle at Sydney, Newcastle and Brisbane, the crews demanding increased wage 3 and insurance for visiting infected ports Members of the Waterside Workers' Federation have not applied for work, owing to the epidemic. The men engaged in loading wheat on six vessels at Darling Island have struck, demanding an increase from Is 9d to 2b an hour. QUEENSLAND APPEAL REFUSED. Melbourne, Feb. 11. Tn the case in which Queensland was seeking an injunction restraining the Commonwealth from landing troops, Mr Justice Duffy found that plaintiff had not established any ground in law to allow the ease to lie carried to the full bench of the High Court, and adjourned the summons to a day to be fixed.—Aus.-N.Z.
