OPUNAKE.
(From Our Own Correspondent.) A meeting of the Poultry Club was held on Friday evening, and a committee, consisting of Messrs G. Loonev, D. Murkham, M. Heath, D. Ross, J. V Shepherd, and J P. Burton, was appointed to transact the club's business. Mr. Burton was elected chairman. It was resolved that the New Plymouth Club be granted the use of the pens, provided they return them in the same order as received. At the Town Board meeting the chairman reported that he had arranged with the chairman of the Education Board to rent the town hall for school purposes at los per week. The arrangement was agreed to by the Town Ejard and permission given to make the necessary alterations required by the school committee Opunake is coining back to normal times. This week a storekeeper, bootmaker, and carpenter commenced business. All are new to the district. Now that the school committee has been granted the use of the town hall for scholastic purposes, the holding of local shows during the day, such as horticultural and poultry shows, will have to be abandoned or held in unsuitable buildings. The back roads in the Opunake town , district are very rough and aorse is '«t»o thriving.
