NAVAL CONSTRUCTION.
IN THE EVENT OF LEAGUE OF NATIONS'. Becelved Jan. 21, 8.15 p.m. London, Jan. 19. Mr. IJoirne, Minister for Labor,, assured the Portsmouth Employment Committee that if the establishment of a league of nations means the curtailment of estimates, still there would be no slackening of work at Portsmouth dockyards. Eighteen months could be occupied in repairs, and the construction of warships Would be done at the naval dockyards instead of in private shipyards.—Aug. NX Cable Assoc.
