PASSENGER VESSEL MINED, mmx loss op lifeRome, Jan. 17. The 'Chaoia, tonveying {>so passengers from Marseilles to Athene, was proceeding at full speed in moonlight when she struck a floating mine fifty miles of! Messina lighthouse. The explosion blew the forepart of the vessel into the air. Most of tlie passengers perished in their bunks. The British steamer Dagnestin daohed to the spot and saved a hundred. Many were injured.
