BIG RECRUITING CAMPAIGN.

TO EIGHT ON EASTERN MONT. PAN-GERMANISM RISES AGAIN. Received Jan. 21, 7.35 p.m. London, Jan. 18. The Post's special correspondent in Berlin states that though the Spartacusists' rebellion has been crushed the whole of Germany is in the throes Qi a big recruiting campaign. Berlin is placarded with appeals for officers, gunners, and infantr to join particular units with special pay and privileges. Apparently the Government contemplates operations on a considerable scale in the eastern provinces, especially against the Poles. Pan-Germanism has risen up again. THE RHENISH PROVINCES. A GERMAN THREAT . Received Jan. 21, 7.35 p.m. New York, Jan. 18. J The United Press CoLienz correspondent interviewed Count von Groote, governor of ihe Rhenish provinces, who said Germany would not forget France's retention of the Rhenish provinces. Received Jan. 21, 11.20 p.m. Berlin, Jan. 19. The National Assembly elections were without special incident.. Immense crowds, including women, were outside the polling booths. Strong forces of Government troops occupied all the important points and patrolled the streets. 'Die voting was extremely heavy, 'both in Berlin and the provinces. There were very few disturbances. Some were arrested in Berlin because of the Spartacists' attempts to destroy the ballot boxes. Jt is estimated the results will be as follows: Majority Socialists, !30 per cent, of the seats; Independent Socialists, five per cent.

LUXEMBURG AND LIEBKNECHT

KILLED BY THE CROWDS. Copenhagen, Jan. 17. After their arrest Liebknecht and Rosa Luxemburg were taken to the Hotel Aden, the headquarters of the Guards cavalry division. Liebknecht at ftrst denied his identity, but lis was searched and his identity established. He was then taken to an automobile. The crowd outside was so infuriated that they seized Liebknecht and soundly thrashed him. Ai the crowd increased and forced an entry into the hotel, the Guards attempted to remove Rosa Luxemburg, but the crowd threw themselves upon her ar.d beat her unconscious. In this condition she was placed in an automobile and driven away The car, however, was stopped at a bridge, where a man jumped in and shot her through the head. Tile mob took possession of her body, and its whereabouts i 3 unknown. Meanwhile Liebknecht had been Bhot in attempting to escape. His captors hustled him into a motor-car, which broke down going to Moabit prison, where the officers in command of the escort determined to take him pending the Government's decision.
