PATRIOTIC COMMITTEE.

MONTHLY MEETING. A meeting of the New Plymouth Patriotic Committee held last night- In the absence of the chairman (Mr 0. H. Burgess), the deputy-chairman (Mr. J. W. Chaney presided, and there were also present: Messrs.P. Jackson, J. Hoskin, C. E. Bellriuge*, J. Paton (treasurer), L. M. Monteath (secretary).

BELGIAN RELEF FUND. The deputy-chairman announced that the Belgian Relief Fund had been closed and a balance of £23 lis 3d remitted to the Under-Secretary for Internal Affairs. Since the fund was first opened, for the poor of Great Britain, Belgium, and Ireland, and the Belgian and Serbian Relief Funds, the sum of £3702 4a 8d had been received and remitted; also, 27 cases of new and seeond-hand clothing had been despatched.

TREASURER'S STATEMENT. The treasurer submitted the following statement of finances up to January 9:—'Balance brought forward: Patriotic Fund £7O 10s Ho, hire of motor-car ac> count £25, Y.M.GA. Fund £O, Wounded Soldiers' Fund £2 10s; total, £lO4 6s lid. Receipts since last meeting werej New Plymouth Sash and Door employees (wounded soldiers) £3 17s, Pierrots' Committee (on account) £749 12s; total, £857 15s lid. Disbursements were as follow:—Cheque book 4s, Regimental Fund £SO, Y.MC.A. £6, Taranaki War Relief Association £5 12s, Fit Men's Fund £lB, New Plymouth Women's Patriotic Committee £2O, advertising £2 15s, motor hire (ajlitary funeral, Waitara) £7 10s, nursing attendance (soldier's wife) £3 A.M.P. Society £2 9s 6(1, C. Carter (cigarettes, soldiery in hospital) £1 6a 3d, city fruit and flower Co. (fruit) £3 5s 4d; total, £125 5s Id. Balances at January 9, 1919: Nem Plymouth Patriotic Fund £727 10s Wd, hire of motor car account, £25: total, £732 10s lOd.

It was decided to transfer tho balance of £23 12a 6d from the Soldiers' Comforts' Week Fund to the Patriotic Committee account.

Accounts amounting to £ls 8a were passed for payment.
