[HAICt PRAISES NEW ZEALANDERS. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Christchurch, Jan. 10. The Governor-General has received the following message from Sir Douglas Uaig: "I desire to convey the heartiest thanks of self and all ranks under my command for the inspiriting message on behalf of New Zealand The New Zealand troops have, by the magnificent manner in which they fought, at all times materially assisted in the successful termination of hostilities. They and all ranks join in sending the people of New Zealand best greetings and wishes for the New Year."
EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTE. Wellington, Jan. 10The annual meeting of the New Zealand Educational Institute commenced to-day. The delegates were welcomed by the Mayor, tic chairman of the Wellington Education Board, Dr. Newman, MP., and Mr. Bakewell, chief inspector of schools. The conference resolved to proceeed with discussion of the principles and chief details that should be embodied in an amending Education Bill.
