PEACE CELEBRATIONS.
MEETING OF COMMITTEE. A meeting of the New Plymouth Peace Celebrations Committee was held at the Borough Council Chambers yesterday. Mr J W Hayden presided, 'and there were present: Messrs J. "H. Fowler, F. T. Beliringer, F J. Hill, R. A. Large, P. J. White, C. E. Beliringer, and. J. Paton (treasurer) Accounts amounting to £23 9s were passed for payment, the committee recommending that the advertising accounts (£l6 ICs Cd) should ibe discharged by the Borough Council. The question of the celebrations to be held at the signing of peace was then discussed, and it was resolved that as the date was somewhat uncertain the meeting should adjourn sine die, in the meantime the chairman to communicate with the Government as to their arrangements in connection with the celebrations, and then to formulate some scheme and submit the same to a meeting to be called as soon as he considers necessary.
