HONOR TO WHOM HONOR IS DUE.
INFLUENZA PLAGUE, 1918, (Dedicated to the Women of Taranaki.) Ye women of Taranaki To you be all the praise For your noble self-denial In those dark and threatening days, When you left your homes of comfort, Working hard both day and niglit, With a firm determination . Helping hard the plague to figlit.
'Twas a hard and bitter struggle, Taking toll of prec'ous lives. Leaving, many stricken homesteads, Husband, mothers, loving wives; For the plague had spread so quickly, And from villages and town Daily came some urgent message That, whole families were down. But you Taranaki women Putting home and self aside Gave the help so sorely needed Till the turning of the tide, . When the foul disease was conquered, And was from out the land. By your noble self denial And your woman's helping hand!
So we freely give you honor, To you give fervent praise. For the splendid way you rallied In those dark and dreary' days, And you women of this province Have proved, once more anew, "That you have done to others ; As you would they'd do to you." .U'*4H.J.E.
