FIREMAN SUFFERS FROM SPINAL MENINGITIS. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Christchurch, Last Night. A sensation was caused to-day, when it was learned that the Maori, which was to have sailed for Wellington to-night, had been held tip. • The facts, as far as they can be ascertained, are that at midday a fireman named William Mt'Quire was seized with sudden illness,'the symptoms pofntlng to meningitis. A doctor was called immediately, and the health authorities ordered that the vessel should be held up until further notice The man was removed to Christchurcb Hospital, and the Maori is to be taken out into tlio harbor and, presumably, quarantined.
