ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.
MAN AND CHILD DROWNED, Christclmreh, Oct. 29At Kaiapoi yesterday afternoon Harry Harper, aged 4u, and bis daughter Eileen agc-d 13, ,were drowned near the railway bridge Harper, his wife and'five children and another man were sailing on the Waimakariri River when the boom knocked Eileen overboard Her father, who was a strong swimmer, jumped after her and g6t hold of her, but both sank Harper was employed at the Kaiapoi Woollen mills. MAN COMMITS SUICIDE. Wellington, Oct. 29. Charles Dowsett cut his throat in a gamge in Tinakori Road on Monday evening. He was removed to the hospital, but died a few hours later. FATAL SHOOTING ACCIDENT. Masierton, Oct. 29. A shooting accident occurred on Sunday at whereby a boy, Thomas Jackson, lost his life. Deceased and another lad were out shooting, and s;tood the gun alongside a fence. A dog knocked -1 ho gon over and the charge entered the boy's leg.
