FOOTBALL.
TRENTHAM DEFEATS CANTERBURY Christehurch, Sept. 14. The representative football match between Trentham and Canterbury was played to-day in ideal weather, Trentham winning by 14 points to 8. Packer and liillikou each scored two tries for the winners, Roberts converting one, while Mullins and Boag scored for Canterbury, Gainey converting one. The proceeds were in aid of the Red Cross funds, but the attendance, though large, was not up to expectations. NORTHERN UNION GAME. AUCKLAND DEFEATS CANTERBURY Auckland, Sept. 14. The Canterbury v. Auckland representative football match under Northern Union rules, at the Domain to-day, was attended by about 10,000. The" game was fast and open, and resulted in a win for the home team by 45 to 9. Tho Auckland players excelled in passing, and to this must be attributed their somewhat easy victory. Davidson scored five tries, Ifwcrson and Haddon two each, the other try getters being McClymont and lies. Canterbury kicked three goals from marks, while Young scored a try for the southerners.
