NEW PLYMOUTH CHAMPIONSHIP. The semi-final of the Saturday section of the New Plymouth Glub'o championship was played on Saturday, with tho following results: Johns beat Grey 3 up and 1, and Robertshaw beat Austin 2 up and 1. The winners will play off on Saturday next, and the winner of the Saturday section will meet Gudgeon (the winner of the Thursday section) the following week.

STRATFORD CLUB.

The competition for Mr, C. Martin's trophy on Thursday was very keen, the afternoon being most enjoyable. The tournament resulted in a tie as follows: 'Mr. and Mrs. J. R. L. Stanford (scr.) 3 down, and Mr. and Mrs. A. W. Budge (lfi) 3 down. Other cards were: Mr. and Mrs. S. Spence (3) 4 down, Mrs. Howard and H, E. Abraham (0) 5, Mr. and Mrs. J. S. Lyons (15) 5, Mr. and Mrs. Pratt (IS) 5. For the championship, Rutherfurd defeated Lyons, Wright defeated Peattie, Malonc defeated Sharp, Stanford heat Winter. Stewart vanquished Stanley, and Abraham scored against Hill. Further play has narrowed the final to Abraham and Wfight. During the afternoon Mr. Stanford presented Mr. Hill with a pair of candlesticks in view of his approaching marriage.
