Whangarei, Sept. 0Whangarei was subjected to a brief flood unprecedented in extent this morning, following a continuous downpour for 24 hours, in which "4.4 inches of rain were recorded. Damage, more or less serious, was caused to a'large motor garage, newspaper office, business premises, and residences. In some of the latter the occupants had to be rescued by various means.
