CANTERBURY DEFEATS AUCKLAND. By Telegraph. —Press Association. Auckland, August 31. Tho representative hockey match between Auckland and Canterbury was won by Canterbury by three goals to nil, after a p'sfc and exciting game. Patrick, IT. Bell, and Beaton scored for Canterbury. ■STRATFORD v. HAWERAUndoubtedly the keenest and fastest game of the series played by ladies was tha final game at Hawera on {Saturday between the Aotea (Stratford) and Hawera Technical College teams, winners of north and south divisions. Mr. Percy Pratt was referee. From start to finish, plav was interesting, j>ut the honors were undoubtedly with the Stratford ieam, who frequently essayed the elusive net only to miss scoring bv the smallest of margins. Miss AVells shot once and struck the post, and two shots by Miss N. Sangster just missed their objective, and an angle shot by Miss . Curtis also dribbled the wrong side. Hawera girls were more youthful, yet they put up a plucky game against their more matured opponents, but their scoring opportunities were much fewer than the visitors'. Another game will be necessary to decide the championship, anil will bo played on the Stratford ground. :
