The local Rugby Union applied to tho New Zealand Union (for permission to play Auckland under the modified Tiiles which were used at the Hitter place and formed the subject of discussion at the last meeting of the New Zealand Union. Tho latter has replied that it has no option hut to adhere strictly to the constitution and cannot agree to the request. It .pointed out that one of tho suggested modifications were expressly rejected by the delegates to the New Zealand Union last year.
